The Scar Project, Breast Cancer is not a Pink Ribbon es una serie de retratos a gran escala de mujeres de entre 18 y 35 años, supervivientes del cáncer de mama, elaborados por el fotógrafo de moda David Jay. Se trata de una campaña de concienciación que rinde homenaje al coraje y la valentía de estas supervivientes, teniendo en cuenta que el cáncer de mama es la primera causa de muerte en las mujeres de entre 15 y 40 años. 

For these young women, having their portrait taken seems to represent their personal victory over this terrifying disease. It helps them reclaim their femininity, their sexuality, identity and power after having been robbed of such an important part of it. Through these simple pictures, they seem to gain some acceptance of what has happened to them and the strength to move forward with pride.
